'Economic Transition without Costing the Earth'

The first webinar, 'Notes from Small Island' will be delivered by Dr David Hutchinson:

"Where the Isle of Wight leads, Britain follows". Not something you would have expected to hear a senior minister say, just 8 weeks ago. But with the COVID-19 NHS app being trialled on the island, this is exactly what Matt Hancock MP was heard to say.

The fact is, the Island is as near as we can get to a United Kingdom in miniature. It is a perfect place to lead the way on so many things. Including how we might transition to a net-zero economy.

The Isle of Wight has a rich pedigree for great moments in innovation. The UK's first production electric car, the Hovercraft, the world's first permanent wireless radio station, from which we can trace our world of instant global communication, the birth of the modern rock festival within the UK, and the epicentre for developments around Circular Economy, as the location for the Ellen Macarthur Foundation. And now, we hope, a world class demonstrator that delivers prosperity from a low carbon revolution.
