Warrens Office is a contract focused office supplies company based in Winnall, Winchester. The business was established in 1996 and the company focuses on supplying a relatively small number of larger headcount businesses with their supplies and services, including office furniture. Warrens Office joined us as part of the EMphasis3 project and received a free energy efficiency audit from GEP Environmental and a grant.

As a business, Warrens Office was already keen to be as environmentally friendly as possible. When speaking to their Managing Director Paul Morgan said,

“We had already installed solar panels and we bought cardboard compactors and balers so we could start to properly recycle our waste, and we put LED lights in all of our offices. The audit highlighted that we could go further and complete the LED light insulation throughout the warehouse, we could add industrial electricity storage devices, batteries, to allow us to store the surplus energy from the solar panels from supply exceeded demand. We also wanted to make the leap into starting the conversion process of our diesel van fleet across to fully electric vehicles. What the audit did was it  highlighted that there is material benefit from making these changes and the funding allowed us to push ahead during some very uncertain times with the purchase of the vans, the  purchase and installation of the industrial batteries, and the final conversion of the warehouse lighting across to LED.”

“Very straightforward. The company doing the audit was very responsive - we set up the date and they met up with me in the building and did the tour, took some notes and had a follow up meeting and a few days later they sent me the report.”

“Most of us have a phobia of form filling and some of the documentation is detailed and rightly so. Matt was on hand and was very helpful if I got stuck on any points and whilst it was my responsibility to complete the documentation, he was a great sounding board during the process.”

“I think going through the audit, being audited, and making commitments following the audit to improve our businesses environmental credentials has probably been the single most important thing we have done in the last 12 months.”
